Materials Owned by Other NEOS Libraries
As we move to the new system, NEOS libraries, such as the U of A and MacEwan, will be leaving our shared catalogue.
When a NEOS library leaves our shared catalogue:
- Their items will no longer show in catalogue search results. Any holds placed on items from these libraries will be cancelled.
- Checked out items from these libraries will not be renewable and will need to be returned by the due date.
- If you wish to access items from these libraries, please request them through Interlibrary Loan service, or recommend a purchase (faculty only) for the Northwestern Polytechnic Library.
- Your NWP NEOS membership will no longer work at that library.
- To maintain a membership at a departed NEOS Library, visit them in person to discuss membership options.
- NWP members will not be able to borrow items from the departed library using their NWP ID card.
- NWP members will not be able to physically return library materials to the departed library that do not belong to that library.
- NWP members will not be able to pick up NEOS Holds at the departed library.
- Holdings within the shared catalogue will shrink as libraries depart.
When will libraries exit the shared catalogue?
Below are dates of when NEOS libraries will leave the shared catalogue (as they become available). Certain catalogue functions may not work prior to the dates indicated:
- January 2024: Alberta Health Services and Covenant Libraries (exit completed)
- September 2024: Northern Lakes College Library (exit completed)
- November 2024: MacEwan University Library (exit completed)
- December 2024: Olds College (exit completed)
- March 2025: Newman Theological College Library
- April 2025: Norquest College Library
- May 2025: Northwestern Polytechnic
- May 2025: Concordia University of Edmonton, Keyano College, The King's University, Burman University, Vanguard College
- July 2025: University of Alberta
