Solving Inequalities

Inequalities can be solved by isolating the variable by applying basic operations such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication to both sides of the equation.

Example 1):
Subtract 7 from both sides

Subtract 8x from both sides

Divide both sides by -9

Example 2):

Add 8 to both sides

Add (5/8)x to both sides

Multiply both sides by 8/7
