Equipment: Laptops

Note: To allow fair access to all student, laptops will not be available for successive bookings. Loans will be for a maximum of 1 week with a 2 week unavailability period following.

Log in information

  • You must sign-in to these laptops with your NWP student network credentials.
    • Username: NWP Student ID#
    • Password: password you use for NWP computer/D2L MyClass access (usually YYYYMmmDD ex: 1976Apr08)
  • *Sign-in to the laptop before taking it off-campus. If the laptop is taken off-campus without signing in, the laptop will be unusable.*
  • After the sign-in process completes, you should be good to sign-in over Wi-Fi, whether on- or off-campus.
  • The laptop will become unusable if it remains off-campus for more than 90 days.
  • If you're unsure about your credentials or have other technical issues, contact the NWP IT Help Desk.

  • You may access additional applications through the Remote Desktop, which must be installed from this link while connected to NWP’s network: https://myrddin.gprc.ab.ca/RDWeb
    • (use your student e-mail address (studentID#@nwpolytech.ca) as your username)
  • Note that some databases will still be unusable off-campus, even with a school-issued laptop
  • You may not install other software, nor modify the laptop’s configuration or settings

Accessing Files and Drives

Do not save your files on a borrowed laptop. There are several alternative options for file storage:

  • Go to your student webmail and sign in with your NWP email credentials to access OneDrive and other Microsoft products.
  • Save files to a personal storage service, such as Google Drive or Drop Box.
  • Save files to a removable USB drive.

Laptop computers are available at:

  • Grande Prairie Learning Commons Front Desk
  • Fairview Learning Commons Front Desk

Each campus has 6 laptops that can be loaned for a one-week maximum period (and unavailable for 2 following weeks) to allow fair access. All borrowers must hold a valid NWP student card (physical or on the app) and sign the Laptop Borrower Agreement. Enquire at the branch front desk for specific loan periods and return times.

Talk to a library staff member who would be happy to get you set up with one.
