Accessibility Services (AS) at Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) is committed to ensuring equal access to academic pursuits for all students. Institutions of higher learning in Alberta are mandated by the Alberta Human Rights Commission and the Duty to Accommodate to provide adequate access to academic services.
NWP strives to ensure a fair, equitable, and accessible environment for students with disabilities or medical conditions that meet the admission requirements of their chosen program. Support services are addressed on an individual basis, while maintaining the academic integrity of the institution.
Note: This guide is Trades-specific. More information for all students can be found on our main guide.

Accessibility Services promotes and coordinates a variety of accommodations on an individual-case basis to make your chosen program workable for you. Supports that are available include, but may not be limited to the following:
Please be aware there could be a delay in the commencement of services and specialized supports due to availability of resources and medical documentation. An Accessibility Advisor will discuss this in detail during the intake meeting.
To register with AS:
If you are struggling academically and suspect a disability, please contact Accessibility Services for more information on supports that may be available to you.
Students registered with Accessibility Services will receive a Letter of Accommodation stating their approved academic accommodations at the time of registering and at the start of each semester after confirming the supports required. The letter will be available through Clockwork and emailed at the beginning of the term. Instructors who are listed to teach the course will receive a copy of the Letter of Accommodation so they are aware of the accommodations but they are not informed of any disability information.
Students are responsible for requesting the use of accommodations within the appropriate time frames set out by Accessibility Services and are encouraged to share their Letter of Accommodation with their instructors to ensure their accessibility needs are met.
Trades students are able to book test and exam accommodations through the online form provided below. Students may not receive test accommodations with less than 3 days' notice provided.
