Finding Articles

A good general place to start is the OneSearch bar on the Learning Commons homepage. This discovery function will allow you to search all the resources available through NWP.

  • Always consult your assignment guidelines carefully to figure out what type of sources you can use. See our Research Guide for more discussion on different source types.

  • You can start with broader key terms and use limiters to refine your search as you go. For example, most databases let you narrow your choices down by publication date, type of source, location, and even content, among other things.

  • If you know the title of the article you're looking for, you can type it into the search bar in "quotation marks."

  • If you find an article you like, be sure to write down its details (author, year, title) and save the permalink for the article before closing the window. This will make it easier for you to find it again! The permalink can be found on the toolbar on the right side of the page after clicking an article's title in the database.
